The Next Few Days Could Change Everything

Don\'t Vote

In fact, you don’t even need to go to the URL shown in this video. You can register to vote or check on the status of your registration right here. Just type your address in the space below, including your zip code, click on “search,” and your voter registration information will show up in the box:

Still not ready to vote? You tell me why the video above is effective or not effective. Really, I want to know. If you do think it’s effective, you might want to forward it to some of your indecisive friends. It’s important to do it TODAY, though. Today, or the next few days, are the cut-off dates for voter registration in some states.

By the way, two other sites where you can register to vote are Vote for Change and Rock the Vote.

So, did that do it for you? Yes? No? Let me know, really. If you’re so inclined, leave a comment below.

I think the video above would actually be more effective if it were filmed using “normal” people, rather than celebrities. No amount of self-satire can lead me to believe that any of them are directly affected by most of the policies they cite — especially the economy. As much as I’d like to believe we’re all altruists, I’m not so sure Tobey Maguire and I are feeling the same pinch at the pump.

    Justin,

Thanks for visiting, and thanks for your thoughtful comment. I would agree with you, although I haven’t seen a video like this, using “normal” people.

That leads to an idea—-what if some of my readers out there made their own short video clips to encourage people to vote? As long as they are in reasonably good taste and quality, meet my blog’s guidelines (email me about that, see “speaker” or “newsroom” pages), and can be embedded in my blog, I’ll be glad to consider featuring them here. Of course, you may want to launch them on your own blog or YouTube channel and link back to this post—and I can also mention them and link back to you.

Of course, some people who are hesitating to vote for one reason or another may be influenced by celebrities, so maybe it’s valid to make video clips by both celebrities and “normal” people; but I’d love to see my readers’ videos!

    Cheers, Cathryn
